Challenging, surprising and unusual, the Art Gallery's temporary exhibitions programme includes a variety of different art forms and could feature anything from Picasso to local school children's work. The gallery is dedicated to supporting the work of local artists as well as showing art of national and international significance.

As part of Heritage Open Days, Bryan Talbot, author of the critically acclaimed book' Alice In Sunderland' will have some of his art work from the book on display, the week beginning 8 September at Arts Centre, Washington, Bryan will also give a talk and slide show presentation on Saturday 13 September at the City Library & Arts Centre at 1.30pm. The Heritage Open Days regional booklet will be available from August.

The subjects in this photography exhibition have, in many cases come close to achieving what may be loosely termed `fame` and in some instances have very definitely done so ! They are all either musicians who have at  had a influence on the music scene in the North East or others that have been instrumental in other people’s success whilst rarely or never performing themselves.

The Northern Counties Photographic Federation serve some fifty clubs and societies across the North of England, covering an area, which includes the whole of the counties of Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham, Cleveland and the northern part of Cumbria.
